1. Dress up and look your spooky best! Halloween is often celebrated in Western culture, but has yet to be celebrated by most in Singapore! When we conceptualized Spooky Soiree, we were aiming for a truly immersive experience just for you. Come join in the fun by dressing up! Our own members will be dressed up as skeletons, chained prisoners, witches and more! Picture by Leonard Yap 2. Da Capo XI features pieces you will love Featuring fantastical pieces, such as music from Kiki’s Delivery Service, and the Wizard of Oz, and classical dances Danse Macabre and Danse Diabolique, there is something for everyone! Here is a teaser of what you can expect: Video by Ezbon Sio 3. Freshman talent True to the NUS Wind Symphony Da Capo (which means ‘from the beginning’ in Italian) tradition, Spooky Soiree features freshman talent! Apart from putting in almost 20 hours weekly on practices, our freshmen have been hard at work behind the scenes working to create props, logistics support and even publicity! 4. Finding meaning in music
Above all the fun, our underlying belief is that music is better appreciated when the meaning behind it is understood. Did you know that Danse Macabre was written based on a poem as an allegory to the universality of death? Call us ambitious, but from meticulously curated song selections to the emcee’s script, we strive to bring you the best experience for appreciation of music – in every. Single. Aspect. Come down to UCC this Sunday at 5pm! |
